Working to integrate people with disabilities into the world community has been Toms avocation for more than twenty years. Building upon the success of the Cooperative Wilderness Handicapped Outdoor Group (C.W. HOG), a regional program he founded in 1981 and directed for nine years, he has now created a non-profit trust - the WIND HORSE LEGACY. The legacy will achieve its global mission by identifying and supporting grass roots initiatives and programs, like C.W. HOG, which are performing vital work for people with disabilities.
October is Disability Employment Awareness Month
Whittaker travels nationwide for federal, state and private sector clients. He raises awareness and helps agencies and businesses embrace their diversity mission. He has addressed congressional committees in Washington, D.C. On the state and city level, he has presented for governors and mayors committees on employing people with disabilities. He also acts as keynote speaker in national conventions, university events and corporate diversity initiatives. This advocacy is done in addition to his Corporate Motivational Speaking activity.
